description

In keeping with worldwide trends Security Studies look broadly at the issue of security, focusing on its non-military aspect, which consists of the social, political, economical, informational and environmental dimensions among others. The premise of the proposed course of study is that the internal and external security must be considered as one whole and that a range of entities, not only the state are at its center. Therefore, Security Studies analyze security at various levels: the local, national and transnational, through the prism of internationalization, and with an emphasis on human security. The uniquness of the Security Studies program is its combination of theoretical knowledge and practical skills. During the first three semesters students will acquire basic knowledge in such security fields as: the conditionings of security in the modern world and its various dimensions, along with theory and strategy of non-military security. In the second part of the programme (semester 4-6) students choose two specializations, one of them as the primary focus.
