Course Description

Course Profile

Bioproducts Technology is a master’s degree course focused on the development and industrial application of bio-based materials and technologies derived from renewable biomass resources. The studies respond to the growing global need for resource security, sustainable production, and environmentally safe materials that can replace petroleum-based plastics and fossil-derived products. The programme addresses critical technologies related to advanced materials engineering, sustainable processing, and environmentally responsible manufacturing. Students acquire interdisciplinary knowledge combining material science, chemical and process engineering, biotechnology, and sustainable technological design. The curriculum concentrates on biomass processing, fibre and polymer technologies, advanced bio-materials, and the creation of functional products designed with recyclability, biodegradability, and circular-economy principles in mind. Particular emphasis is placed on the full life-cycle of materials, from raw biomass processing and product formation to safety validation and end-of-life management. Practical education includes laboratory work, material characterization, mechanical and barrier testing, and exposure to industrial-scale processing methods. The course prepares students to design innovative, safe, and resource-efficient solutions for modern industry and to contribute to the development and implementation of critical technologies based on renewable raw materials.
