Collegium Civitas was founded in 1997 under the auspices of The Polish Academy of Science and since that time the University has earned a deserved reputation of an exceptional place to study international relations, social and political sciences in English. Collegium Civitas is situated in the very heart of Warsaw, the capital of Poland. In Central and East Europe it is one of the very best if it comes to a variety and quality of offered courses and programs taught in English. Collegium Civitas is entitled to award BA, MA and PhD degrees. It has a rich variety of programs. One of the most up-to-date proposals is a Master Program in Asian Studies.
Collegium Civitas boasts Accreditations by the National Accreditation Commission and from the University Accreditation Commission at the Conference of Rectors of Polish Universities. Collegium Civitas is the only university in Poland that awards the Joint European Degree. Together with Kingston University London, UK, University of Siena, Italy, Viadrina European University, Germany, it runs the Human Rights and Genocide Studies MA Program.
International contacts of Collegium Civitas are extensive. It also hosts many distinguished visiting scholars, MA in Asian Studies represents a perfect example of a program, taught mostly by experts from abroad.
Out of the eight last Polish university rankings, Collegium Civitas has won the first place six times, once being third and once second. According to prominent weekly Newsweek Polska, graduates of Collegium Civitas are among those who are most sought-after by potential employers in Poland.
Collegium Civitas strives to achieve teaching excellence. Internationally renowned lecturers, small class sizes, availability of many elective courses along obligatory ones, online access to reading materials, extra curriculum lectures by visiting speakers, practical angle (e.g. in the Asian Studies Program) are among factors that make studying at Collegium Civitas a truly rewarding experience. Hardly any university in Europe may boast the fact that as many as four of its lecturers are Members of the EU Parliament, as it is the case in Collegium Civitas. Among its instructors there are also former Ambassadors and Charge d’affaires.
The university is situated in the center of Warsaw, in the landmark Palace of Culture and Science. The site contains most of the provisions for a comfortable life, from banks and post-offices to restaurants and bars.
Finally, Collegium Civitas is a non-profit university. Its status helps it maintain tuition fees at a very reasonable level. Some programs, like MA in Asian Studies, are co-funded by the European Union. Combined with low costs of living in Warsaw compared to other European capitals, Collegium Civitas is indeed one of the most attractive universities in the European Union for all those who value what they study, how they study and how their studies will impact their future plans.
