Course Description

Course Profile

Five-year undergraduate pharmacy course leads to the degree of Master of Pharmacy (MPharm) and after a 6-month of pre-registration training in approved pharmacies, to registration as a pharmacist in Poland. Polish registration is recognized in other member states of the EU.

During the pharmacy course, students develop insights into how drugs are developed and how medications affect the human body. The course covers major topics including chemical, physical, pharmaceutical and pharmacological properties of medicines and the application of these in the practice of pharmacy.

Practical experience in a variety of clinical settings including community pharmacy is emphasized in the Master of Pharmacy, particularly in the fourth and fifth years.

The Pharmacy program comprises of:
•    4 semesters of pre-professional subjects
•    5 semesters of professional subjects
•    1 semester to prepare MA thesis in the selected research topic

•    six-month of pre-registration training

 

It offers 5460 hours of instruction. 

Education Requirements

Applicants with IB / EB / EU / OECD / EFTA matriculation certificates,

Candidates who have obtained  the International Baccalaureate (IB) certificate or a matriculation certificate issued in the EU, will be qualified on the basis of the exam results converted into qualification points from the following subjects (there are no extra tests required):

  • Biology - written exam (Higher Level),
  • Chemistry - written exam (Higher Level),
  • Mathematics - written exam (Mathematical Studies Standard level or Mathematics Standard level or Mathematics Higher level) or Physics - written exam (Standard or Higher level).

Candidates of foreign nationality who have obtained the European Baccalaureate (EB) certificate will be qualified on the basis of the results of the matriculation examination of the above three subjects.

The Polish matriculation examination

Candidates who have obtained Polish matriculation examination (Matura) will be qualified on the basis of results converted into qualifying points from the Matura examination in the following subjects:

  • Biology - exam (extended level),
  • Chemistry - exam (extended level),
  • Mathematics or physics and astronomy (or physics) - exam (basic level or extended)

High School Diploma obtained outside Poland:

Candidates who obtained their secondary school-leaving examination certificate after passing the secondary school-leaving examination or certificate / diploma / other document entitling to apply in the RP for admission to the higher studies, issued outside of Poland in countries other than Member States: EU, OECD or EFTA will be qualified on the basis of the High School Diploma results from subjects:

  • Biology - written exam (Higher level),
  • Chemistry - written exam (Higher level),
  • Mathematics - written exam (Mathematical Studies Standard level or Mathematics Standard level or Mathematics Higher level) or Physics - written exam (Standard or Higher level).

Language requirements

English is the language of instruction, therefore the student must be proficient in speaking, listening, reading and writing English. International students who are not native English speakers should provide one of the below certificates:

  • IELTS exam passed with no less than 6,0 points,
  • TOEFL exam passed with no less than 90 points,
  • CEFR exam on B2 level,
  • TOEIC exam passed with no less than 700 points.

For candidates from Scandinavian countries English language grades obtained on the secondary school certificate are taken into account. The minimum rating for candidates from the Nordic countries is as follows: minimum rating for candidates from Norway - 4, minimum rating for candidates from Sweden - C, minimum rating for candidates from Denmark – 7.
