Education at Doctoral Schools is free. Each participant is given a scholarship in the amount of PLN
2,372 (pre-tax, insurance premiums are deducted from this amount). However, each candidate needs
to pay a recruitment fee in the amount of PLN 150

Course Description
Course Profile
Doctoral School No. 5 prepares its students to receive a PhD degree in four scientific disciplines:
- Architecture and Urban Planning
- Civil Engineering and Transport
- Environmental Engineering, Mining and Energy
- Management and Quality Studies.
The variety of the scientific disciplines represented at Doctoral School No. 5 creates for its students an outstanding opportunity for the overall, interdisciplinary development. Supervisors offering research topics within Doctoral School No. 5 are scientific workers of ten units of the Warsaw University of Technology:
- Faculty of Architecture
- Faculty of Civil Engineering, Mechanics and Petrochemistry (at Płock)
- Faculty of Geodesy and Cartography
- Faculty of Building Services, Hydro and Environmental Engineering
- Faculty of Civil Engineering
- Faculty of Production Engineering
- Faculty of Power and Aeronautical Engineering
- Faculty of Transport
- Faculty of Management
- College of Economics and Social Sciences (in Płock)
The didactic offer for the PhD students of Doctoral School No. 5 covers not only specialized subjects dedicated to a given discipline, but also general subjects addressed to all PhD students at the Warsaw University of Technology. It also deepens understanding of connections between various areas of knowledge, necessary in modern science. The School offers support in conducting scientific research and publishing its results, as well as development of cooperation skills within a research team.
The units of the Warsaw University of Technology, represented in Doctoral School No. 5, have developed an advanced research infrastructure and wide international cooperation. Thanks to the programs supporting the mobility of PhD students, they gain a unique opportunity to establish their own, fruitful foreign contacts and participate in international projects.
The activities described above serve to fulfil the mission of the Doctoral School, which is the comprehensive preparation of PhD students to independently conduct research, as well as to elaborate and defend the PhD thesis.
Education Requirements
The candidate needs to have a master's degree or equivalent, obtained in Poland or in another country, where the rules for recognition of education obtained abroad are set out in separate provisions or meet the conditions referred to in art. 186 section 2 of the Law on Higher Education and Science and predispositions to the scientific work documented by achievements like published papers, conference presentations, participation in scientific projects etc.
Other Requirements
a letter from The Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange confirming that the candidate’s diploma issued by universities from outside the European Union entitles the candidate to undertake education at the Doctoral School
