Course Description

Course Profile

Students of the second degree programme in midwifery continue their education initiated during the first degree studies to improve quality of the gained practical knowledge and to complement it with essentials of the obstetric-gynaecological and nursing care administration and management.
Students deepen general knowledge in the area of medicine and specialist skills in midwifery. They are prepared to practice their profession in compliance with the principles of general and vocational ethics with the holistic approach towards the patients, observing and respecting their rights. They are competent in health promotion, prophylactics and professional obstetric-gynaecological care at throughout preconception, prenatal and perinatal periods as well as menopause and senium. They learn how to diagnose and monitor normal pregnancy, to receive natural labour and to observe abnormal conditions in the mother and child
A student of the faculty of midwifery gains skills to provide health services for:
• a woman and her family;
• a ;pregnant woman
• a woman in labour
• a woman in puerperium and the neonate.
Students of midwifery deepen knowledge and skills in the area of perinatal medicine, prophylactic and care procedures for a pregnant woman, a woman in labour and the neonate during the first days of life Graduates of the second degree studies are fully competent to practice the profession of a midwife, implementing the state of the art methods and techniques, seeking novel organisational solutions and defining directions of the undertaken research work.
They are prepared to take care of a pregnant woman, her family, a woman in labour and the neonate. They are ready to promote health, to offer prophylactic solutions and to provide professional obstetric and gynaecological care.
Competent to diagnose and monitor normal pregnancy, to receive natural labour and to observe abnormal conditions in the mother and child during pregnancy, delivery and puerperium, they are prepared to provide information about the childbirth and family planning (during puberty and preconception) in the biological, educational, social, maternity and fatherhood context.
