Course Description

Course Profile

Environmental protection programme is dedicated to everyone interested in the most current challenges in nature conservation and environmental protection at local, regional, and global scales.

The curriculum encompasses five main thematic areas:

Atmospheric quality and global change;

Water resource management using both standard approaches and so-called nature-based solutions;

Terrestrial ecosystem use and environmental interactions;

Challenges in biodiversity conservation;

Professional and research skills in practice;

The programme has been designed to meet the expectations of candidates with diverse scientific interests and academic backgrounds. Our teaching staff is drawn from various faculties and universities, offering students the opportunity for interdisciplinary academic and professional development.

The studies span four semesters, with the option to complete one semester abroad at Kiel University (Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel, CAU), Germany, entitling students to graduate with diplomas from both institutions. The programme includes over 1,200 hours of lectures, laboratory classes, workshops, seminars, and field classes. All courses and lectures are conducted entirely in English.

Candidates with documents obtained abroad also provide:

a scan of a foreign document, which is legalized or accompanied by an apostille, entitling the candidate to take up higher education studies in the country where the document was issued

a scan of translation of the document into the language of the studies undertaken by the candidate, performed by a sworn translator entered into the list of sworn translators maintained by the Polish Minister of Justice, or certified by a Polish consul in the country where the document was issued

a scan of the document recognizing the foreign certificate as equivalent to the Polish Matura certificate – in the case of candidates for first-cycle or long-cycle master's studies to whom this applies

a scan of the document recognizing the foreign diploma as equivalent to the Polish diploma – in the case of candidates for second-cycle studies to whom this applies

a scan of a document confirming the entitlement to study tuition-free – in the case of the foreigners concerned

Other Requirements

An interview in English

The qualification interview is conducted by the recruitment committee of the Faculty of Biology, Adam Mickiewicz University, Poznań. Interview is assessed on a scale from 1 to 50 points, and the minimum number of points necessary to obtain a positive result is 26 points.

3. Ecosystems – relationships and interactions between biotic and abiotic components

4. Human impact on the environment, threats to the natural environment (broad spectrum, causes, effects, examples)

5. Nature conservation and environmental protection (objectives, components, measures, forms, conservational efforts – examples)

6. Sustainable Development (concept, principles, goals, examples)

7. What things can I do for the natural environment? … to protect the natural environment? … to help the natural environment?
