Course Description

Course Profile

European Studies examines political, social, economic and cultural processes across Europe, combining local and global perspectives. It demonstrates how decisions taken at the European level influence the everyday lives of citizens, states and institutions, and how Europe’s actions resonate far beyond its borders. In an increasingly interconnected world, Europe does not operate in isolation – its policies affect global security, international trade, environmental protection and international cooperation. This growing complexity creates strong demand for graduates who are able to analyse European processes and operate confidently in an international environment.

The European Studies specialisation prepares students to navigate the complexities of European and global affairs, equipping them with the knowledge and skills required for careers in diplomacy, international organisations, government, and related sectors.

The programme focuses on:

Understanding international relations – gaining in-depth knowledge of global challenges and the dynamics of European and international relations;

Diplomacy and negotiations – developing essential negotiation and communication skills for diplomatic and international careers;

The European Union’s global role – analysing the EU’s position in international organisations, global trade, and foreign policy;

Foreign policy and security – understanding the EU’s strategic importance in global security;

Cultural and European identity – exploring the cultural and social dimensions of European integration and the development of a shared European identity.
