Course Description

Course Profile

Tourism is the fastest growing industry in the business world. Maria Curie-Sklodowska University offers a solid world-class education that is rich in both theory and practice. The UMCS BA Tourism Management is attractive due to various career prospects it offers. In general, it aims at preparation of graduates for services in tourism sector which is one of the most rapidly developing branches in the world economy. The programme is designed to provide students with understanding of the diverse conditions of tourist phenomena in the varied natural and cultural environments. It also enables them to acquire skills in planning and organizing different tourist activities as well as providing services related to tourism traffic.

The programme consists of two compulsory modules, which enable students to learn the mechanisms of functioning of tourism industry and frame their organizational skills in the tourism domain. Apart from that, the programme offers elective modules targeted at the individual interests of students.

The programme, which draws on both natural and social sciences, can be described as multidisciplinary (diverse classes provide students with knowledge and abilities necessary for multidimensional perception of tourism phenomena and organizing of tourist activities in varied circumstances), flexible (enabling individual ways of development) and covering the broad cultural context.

The programme’s completion enables further participation in Master’s degree programmes in the field of tourism and other fields of social studies, as well as non-degree postgraduate programmes within the field of tourism and hotel industry. The studies also prepare students for work in tourism sector and independent organization of diverse tourist activities.

Education Requirements
  1. Admission is open to both Polish citizens and international candidates.
  2. The programme is offered on a tuition fee-paying basis to candidates holding a high school diploma or any other equivalent degree, which entitles them to undertake the bachelor's degree programme in the country where the documents were issued, provided the documents are appended with the necessary legalisation or apostille. 
  3. Polish and EU citizens, as well as other candidates who are eligible under the same regulations*, can study for free if places are available. One tuition‑free place is offered. *For more detailed information, please contact the UMCS Admissions Office.
  4. A candidate must submit a complete set of application documents, including the NAWA individual recognition statement and English certificate (more information in Application Documents tab).
  5. Passing the entrance exam related to the chosen programme.
  6. Registration is open within the admission period (April - September) and until all the available vacancies are filled.
  7. The required registration fee payment is PLN 100. Please check the instructions on how to make a payment in the system.

2. Complete personal details and educational information.

3. Sign up for your chosen study programme. If you are unable to complete the sign-up, please check that you have filled in all the necessary details.

Note: Signing up is possible from the opening of the application period in April each year.

4. Make the application fee payment. (details)

5. Upload the necessary documents (check the full list under the Application Procedure Tab to chosen programme )

6. Send an email to UMCS Admissions Office at studyinenglish@umcs.pl with information that you finalised your online application
and that you would like to start the reviewing procedure (this is a mandatory step). Please include:

  • applicant’s name and surname,
  • chosen study programme name,
  • registration number.

Once the admissions officer receives this email, they will forward you responses via the IRK system in the messages portal.
