Course Description

Course Profile

Business Analytics combines information technology and business knowledge to make an ideal study option with guaranty of ambition career perspective and satisfaction from studying. It is the combination of academic rigor and practical relevance utilized for the management decision supporting based on machine and mind approach. It is about utilizing a practical statistics and data mining and modeling in order to deliver a new insight for the business. It is about the influence through business intelligence for the most important processes in enterprise, as strategical planning, running data processing and operational management.

Students will not only be trained in the field of data analysis and business intelligence in terms of high professional skills but will also become part of the multicultural society of the university campus. The choice of elective modules allows you to customize the program to meet your personal career ambitions. During their studies students will develop skills needed in the work of an analyst (e.g. Analytical Project, Soft Skills and Communication Training, Business Simulation). The program is practical, i.e. to a large extent it is based on experience of business practitioners and problem solving related to business practice. It includes a 3-month work placement that allows students to gain professional practical experience during their studies. Students will be introduced, among others, to business simulations reflecting the dynamics of economic processes that will help them make decisions and observe results. The program of the course draws on extensive use of online database available for students of the Faculty of Economics.

A graduate of Business Analytics may find employment in a variety of industries and business entities (e.g. enterprises, banks insurance companies, research centers, marketing agencies and consulting firms) in the following positions: Business Analyst, Database Analyst, Financial Analyst, Business Operations Analyst, Market Research Analyst. They can also continue studies in Data Science (MA). The program is dedicated mainly to foreigners.

We offer a number of elective courses, so that you can adapt your studies to your own individual interests. In this way, you can build up competencies and get combinations that make you attractive and unique of the job market.

Education Requirements

  1. Admission is open to both Polish citizens and international students
  2. The programme is offered on a tuition fee-paying basis to candidates holding a high school diploma or any other equivalent degree, which entitles them to undertake the bachelor's degree programme in the country where the documents were issued, provided the documents are appended with the necessary legalisation or apostille. 
  3. Polish and EU citizens, as well as other candidates who are eligible under the same regulations*, can study for free if places are available. One tuition‑free place is offered. *For more detailed information, please contact the UMCS Admissions Office.
  4. A candidate must submit a complete set of application documents, including the NAWA individual recognition statement and English certificate (more information in Application Documents tab).
  5. Passing the entrance exam related to the chosen programme.
  6. Registration is open within the admission period (April - September) and until all the available vacancies are filled.
  7. The required registration fee payment is PLN 100. Please check the instructions on how to make a payment in the system.
Other Requirements

After creating your IRK account, fill in all the required fields in the application portal. Prepare and upload the following documents as one combined PDF file: 

a) Passport Bio Page: A clear scan showing all personal details

b) Academic Documents: Higher secondary/high school original certificates with transcript of records (together with Apostille or legalised copies for documents issued outside of Poland). 
NB: When you pass the high school examination in Poland, please include the Polish Matura certificate.

c) A sworn (certified) translation of academic documents is required when the documents are issued in a language other than Polish. However, for the basic document review, the English version of academic documents is sufficient. For translation services pplease visit the DATABASE OF SWORN TRANSLATORS.

d) A NAWA recognition statement https://nawa.gov.pl/en/recognition/how-to-obtain-a-recognition-statement  or the recognition decision issued by the Kuratorium Oświaty if you already have one issed in 2025 at the latest. NB: Please verify if your documents require the recognition or they are recognised atomatically: https://nawa.gov.pl/en/recognition/recognition-for-academic-purposes/applying-for-admission-to-first-long-cycle-studies 

e) An English certificate at a minimum B2 level according to the rules: https://rekrutacja.umcs.pl/en/language-requirements/ 

f) Eligibility Statement: A formal statement confirming your eligibility to pursue further studies,

g) An official signed agreement from parents to start the studies when an applicant is under 18 (Request the form from the Admissions Office),

h) A copy of health insurance or the signed obligation letter (Request the form from the Admissions Office), 

i) Candidate Profile Form: Complete all required fields in the online portal, download the generated profile (via the IRK system), print it, enter the date, and sign it by hand.
