Course Description

Course Profile

Aim of the program

The primary mission of the studies is to ensure the highest quality in transferring advanced knowledge to graduates and to provide the best understanding of the challenges in engineering infrastructure today. Those issues certainly require the application of analytical, decision-making, and critical thinking skills, which the students will develop during their studies. This will be achieved by delivering high-quality taught modules in topics such as structural engineering and design, geotechnical engineering, numerical modelling methods, and management processes in civil engineering.

Main mandatory subjects

1 Year

Foreign language, Mathematics, Hydraulic structures, Environmental Hazard Assessment, Theory of elasticity and plasticity, Structural mechanics, Geotechnical engineering in urban and transportation infrastructure, 2 additional subjects to be chosen by the student.

2 Year

Complex steel structures, Complex concrete structures, Timber structures, BIM in civil engineering, Construction law and investment processes regulations, Construction process management, Advanced foundation engineering, Computational methods, Intellectual property management, Diploma seminar, 4 additional subjects to be chosen by the student.

Career prospects

Graduates are prepared to work in a wide range of positions, including:

Design and construction roles in general construction, hydrotechnical engineering, bridge, road, and railway infrastructure projects.

Public administration and local government institutions.

Research and development centers as well as educational institutions.

Companies involved in the production or distribution of construction materials.

Graduates are also well-prepared to continue their education in third-cycle (PhD) programs or postgraduate studies.

Education Requirements

Entry requirements:

a diploma of the first-cycle studies (Bachelor’s degree or equivalent) in Civil Engineering, obtained outside Poland and entitling the holder to apply for second-cycle studies in the country where it was issued.

a diploma in another related field of study (Bachelor’s degree or equivalent).

In this case, the alignment of learning outcomes must be verified based on the uploaded academic transcript (list of subjects, hours, grades, and ECTS or equivalent credits). If discrepancies in expected learning outcomes are identified, the candidate will be required to address the competency gaps during their second-cycle studies by completing the subjects indicated by the admissions committee. The required additional coursework may not exceed 30 ECTS.

Confirmed English proficiency at a minimum B2 level, demonstrated by an accepted language certificate or (if applicable) by an online English-proficiency interview.

Candidates who meet the above requirements are qualified based on the arithmetic average of all final grades from the subjects included in the program of completed studies.

If the number of candidates exceeds the admission limit, first-cycle civil engineering graduates will be admitted first (based on the average grade from completed studies), followed by graduates of other fields of study (based on the average grade from completed studies). The result, based on which the ranking list is created, is the product of the aforementioned average and the alignment coefficient.

Education Requirements

Entry requirements:

- diploma of the first-cycle studies (Bachelor’s degree or equivalent) in the field of civil engineering,

- diploma of related field of the first cycle studies, for which the effects of education are convergent with the learning outcomes expected of the candidates; if the convergence is incomplete, the student will be obliged to supplement the competence gaps by completing the subjects specified during the interview, in an amount not exceeding 30 ECTS, which is the limit of admissible discrepancy (Candidates permanently living outside Poland, who cannot come personally to interview, will be qualified based on the documentation),

- in case of the number of candidates exceeding the admission limit – the average grade from first-cycle studies is taken into account,

- confirmed knowledge of English (certificate of English language at least level B2).
