Course Description
Course Profile
What do we teach?
If you are curious about how something is built and why it works, enjoy disassembling and deconstructing down to the last screw, and believe that you will be the one to build a perpetual motion machine, then you have found the perfect major for you! We will teach you the principles of mechanics, the theory of machines and mechanisms, and everything you need to know about the strength of materials. You will learn how to design machines, how to select engineering materials, technologies and techniques for their manufacture. Moreover, you will learn the principles of machine operation, including technical diagnostics and the design and management of production systems, and gain knowledge of modern methods and tools for supporting engineering work.
Why is it worth it?
Industrial production is the pillar of technical civilization. Even the fourth and already heralded fifth industrial revolution won't change that - they will only put a stronger emphasis on the deeper integration and automation of processes and the sustainability of industry. What this means for you is that every industry will continue to need specialists with skills in machine design, operation of technical systems and management of changing production. Especially those whose knowledge keeps up with market demands - our graduates!
Your qualifications and skills:
Graduates of the major have up-to-date knowledge and skills to design and analyse mechanisms, knowledge of the construction and properties of typical machine components and assemblies, the principle of their design and testing, both by classical methods and with the use of modern design, simulation and computational tools. They are also able to design technological processes of machine manufacturing and manage these processes. They are familiar with the principles of integrating the processes of design, manufacturing and operation of machines. They are able to organize and supervise the activities of maintenance services. They know the principles of operation of complex technical systems taking into account the principles of sustainable development. In a word, they are high-class specialists.
