Course Description
Course Profile
Business Informatics is an academic discipline that is valued in the academic and business world and prepares graduates for the modern IT professions required across contemporary businesses. It combines practical computer-related skills with the knowledge of how to take advantage of those skills to govern a company more efficiently. Currently, all modern business organizations absorb more and more information technologies, which creates an extremely wide range of employment opportunities for graduates of Business Informatics in the current era of the Digital Economy. In this context, various classes of systems that comprehensively support business processes occupy a special place.
When studying Business Informatics, you will gain knowledge regarding, inter alia, IT project management, the essence of DevOps and its impact on software engineering across various industries, management of data across business organizations, and cybersecurity of information systems. You will develop skills that will let you model, analyze, and simulate business processes using dedicated IT solutions. You will know how these processes are supported by systems that fall into systems BI, ERP, CRM, and WfMS classes. As a distinguishing feature of the Business Informatics programme at the University of Gdańsk is that it operates within SAP University Alliances and every student has access to the SAP-related resources of this consortium, you will be able to parametrize and handle such solutions. On top of that, you will learn to design processes related to the collection, processing, visualization, and analysis of large-scale datasets, automate application creation and deployment processes, and secure your artifacts against attacks. The teaching method is dominated by laboratory work in self-organizing teams based on agile methods.
